Effective school improvement practice
The School Improvement Unit (SIU) has produced a series of short videos to share the great things happening in Queensland schools, as unearthed during school reviews.
The effective practice videos are available via the links in the right hand column, or by visiting the SIU YouTube Channel.
Each video tells an interesting, positive story about an aspect of a real school's improvement journey.
These mini-documentaries provide concrete examples of how the National School Improvement Tool (PDF, 120KB) (NSIT) can be applied to each school's particular circumstances, to deliver measurable results and set solid foundations for future improvement.
The videos are organised around the School Improvement Hierarchy, which is an easily-visualised model incorporating the nine domains of the NSIT:
- An explicit improvement agenda
- Analysis and discussion of data
- A culture that promotes learning
- Targeted use of school resources
- An expert teaching team
- Systematic curriculum delivery
- Differentiated teaching and learning
- Effective pedagogical practices
- School-community partnerships
For school leaders who are looking for ideas to help drive their school's progress around any particular NSIT domain, these videos are a great resource.
